What an Unfinished #100DayProject Taught me About Overcoming Artistic Block

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to create. Being productive when you know what you’re supposed to be working on is one thing, but when you come off the high of finishing a big project and you don’t have a “next thing” planned, you end up with down time. And it can be difficult to go from a high level of daily productivity, to making fewer things or taking a break from art entirely. If you are not able to adjust your expectations, it can feel like failing.

The Emotional Stages of revising your work

We’ve all been there. You work really hard on something. It could be a piece of writing, or art or whatever it is that you make. It’s finally finished and you are pretty satisfied with it and glad to be done. You show it to some friends and family members and they are like, “Wow! That’s amazing! I could never make that.” You're feeling on top of the world. But then you show it to that one person in your life who always tells you the truth. We'll call them, "The Critic."
