A local specialty builder of high-end custom homes wanted a brand refresh that communicated to clients and architects the quality and unique craftsmanship that goes into their work. I created a custom typeface for their new logo, along with business cards, construction signage, direct mail marketing materials and a website.

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to create. Being productive when you know what you’re supposed to be working on is one thing, but when you come off the high of finishing a big project and you don’t have a “next thing” planned, you end up with down time. And it can be difficult to go from a high level of daily productivity, to making fewer things or taking a break from art entirely. If you are not able to adjust your expectations, it can feel like failing.

It’s finally finished and you are pretty satisfied with it and glad to be done. You show it to some friends and family members and they are like, “Wow! That’s amazing! I could never make that.” You're feeling on top of the world. But then you show it to that one person in your life who always tells you the truth. We'll call them, "The Critic."
